STAFF ARE STARS AS NBC GAINS BEST EMPLOYER RECOGNITION
Nelson Bostock is one of only eleven UK PR companies to achieve Best Companies 2008 star status accreditation for being an outstanding workplace and for its investment in people. The agency has been awarded a prized 2-star ‘Outstanding’ status, ranking it alongside the best in the industry.
The elite national accreditation, developed by Best Companies, scrutinises workplace engagement and sets a benchmark for other companies. It follows a `Michelin star’ system, with companies awarded one star for first class, two stars for outstanding and three stars for extraordinary performance*. Organisational successes have been defined using data from the 2008 Best Companies to Work For survey which involved surveying over 140,000 employees from 558 companies.
Says Jonathan Austin, Chief Executive, Best Companies:
“I would like to congratulate the accredited companies on their outstanding achievement. Our role at Best Companies is to set a rigorous benchmark so that organisations can become even better employers. This year it is encouraging to see that the number of companies entering the accreditation scheme for excellence in workplace engagement has grown by one third."
Lee Nugent, managing director of Nelson Bostock, adds:
“This recognition from Best Companies comes hot on the heels of our PRCA Award for People Development. We’re committed to improving as a workplace, and are always encouraging our staff to feedback wherever they think we can improve. This is our first year of entering the Best Companies scheme and we’re delighted to have achieved a 2-star accreditation – which puts us right alongside the best of our peers, and ahead of many others. This is just a benchmark, however, and next year we hope to improve our score. Who knows, maybe 2009 will bring us three stars: that’s our new goal.”
* 6 PR consultancies achieved 2-star status, while none achieved 3-star status in the 2008 awards.
