The newest tiny, reservation-less restaurant in Soho, BAO, delivers traditional Taiwanese baos – light, soft steamed buns with a choice of fillings (we recommend the classic pork). There’s also a decent selection of sides including Taiwanese fried chicken, trotter nuggets and aubergine with crispy wonton.

The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, like the staff, who were helpful with recommendations and drink suggestions. Although the buns aren’t particularly big, they really pack in the flavour and with the sides make a decent meal. Prices per dish average around £3.50, so it’s not too bad on the wallet either.

Big queues at BAO

Definitely somewhere to add to your list of Soho eateries.
